Leeds United were forced into waving goodbye to some of their best players in the summer and come January, it might be that Daniel Farke’s side will have no choice but to cash in on another.
Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter were all sold due to release clauses, with Leeds also needing to cash in on Gray in order to avoid a possible breach of Profit & Sustainability Rules.
The trio could see Leeds eventually rake in a total of £114m, if Summerville achieves the £9m in add-ons included in his move to West Ham. £5m are performance-related add-ons, £4m for a Netherlands cap.
Glen Kamara was also sold, while Kris Klaesson and Charlie Cresswell saw Leeds rake in a bit of money. Duo Marc Roca and Diego Llorente were sold permanently to Spanish side Real Betis after loan spells.

Real Betis could now return to sign a third Leeds United player
The sales might not stop in January with Junior Firpo a man both in form, and in-demand. The left-back is finally showing Leeds fans the player he can be, and what Leeds hoped he would be when joining in 2021.
His assists and even, his goals are proving a crucial asset down the left flank. One against Sunderland has been followed by three for the Dominican Republic during the break but his form is not going unnoticed.
Indeed, Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo report that Betis are keeping an eye on their former player at Leeds. They are considering a move in January, and it is claimed that Firpo would be open to a return.
Who else do Leeds have as cover for Junior Firpo at left-back?
Leeds may have to sell Firpo given his contract situation. The defender is in the final year of his deal at Leeds and it may mean that if The 49ers receive a bid, it will have to be accepted. Who can cover him?
| Name | Natural position | Career games at left-back |
| Sam Byram | Right-back | 48 |
| Isaac Schmidt | Right-back (left-footed) | 55 |
| Pascal Struijk | Centre-back | 28 |
| Max Wober | Centre-back | 43 |
| Connor Ferguson | Left-back | Yet to make senior debut. 20 of 24 U21 appearances at left-back. |
But those five options are square pegs in round holes, aside from Ferguson who is yet to make his senior debut. So, Leeds have three options regarding Betis’ interest in doing a mid-season deal for Firpo.
Either, get him tied down to a new contract. Unlikely, given Firpo will surely be waiting to see if Leeds get promoted before penning new terms. The second, take a risk and allow his contract to wind down.
Or, sell Firpo and prevent selling him on a free and use the money raked in for his services on a new left-sided option in January. But selling Firpo at this stage would be a massive blow for Farke and Leeds.
