Leeds United sources have expressed doubts about Karl Darlow as his contract nears its end.
The goalkeeper began the 2025-26 campaign as the deputy to Lucas Perri, who arrived from Lyon for £13.9million last summer, but went on to become Daniel Farke‘s number one as the season progressed.
When the season drew to a close, the 35-year-old had made 24 appearances across all competitions for Leeds United, keeping five clean sheets and helping the club stay up in the Premier League.
However, the veteran now faces an uncertain future at Elland Road, as his existing contract expires at the end of the month.

Tottenham are lurking…
Leeds United sources admit Darlow uncertainty
It emerged last week that Tottenham are interested in signing Darlow on a free transfer as they prepare for their first full season under Roberto De Zerbi.
This has raised more doubts about the Wales international’s future in West Yorkshire, although Leeds United fans are keen to see him stay.
However, there is a genuine desire within Elland Road to tie Darlow down to a new deal, as offering him a new contract has been identified as a priority, according to The Athletic.

The goalkeeper’s ambitions, though, will be ‘central to what happens next’, as Leeds United sources have indicated an uncertainty around the wider goalkeeping picture at the club.
It is unclear whether Farke wants Darlow to stay as his first-choice goalkeeper or as a back-up option as things stand.
However, there is hope that he will stay to fight for his place regardless.

Alex Cairns confident about staying
Out of the four goalkeepers at Leeds United, three of them have their contracts expiring at the end of the month.
The Whites are keen to convince Darlow to stay, but Illan Meslier is confirmed to be leaving ahead of the new season.
Meanwhile, it remains to be seen what the 49ers Enterprises-owned club decide to do with Alex Cairns.
As per Beren Cross, sources close to Cairns are confident that he will continue at the club.
