Leeds United are starting to spend money this summer, as Daniel Farke’s side close in on their third signing of the window already.
Daniel Farke has so far welcomed two players to Elland Road: Lukas Nmecha was the first before Leeds United completed a £15million deal for Jaka Bijol, and now it’s Sebastiaan Bornauw who looks set to arrive.
Reports have revealed how Leeds United are close to signing Bornauw who is costing the 49ers £5million, taking the club’s total spending to £20million so far this summer.
And it leaves plenty of room in the apparent £150million transfer budget at Leeds United for this summer, so we may still see the Whites break their £35.5million transfer record this summer.
But on who that might be remains to be seen. Farke has a number of targets on his radar and some expensive names among them too. One such name is Noah Sadiki who could yet cost the Whites £17million this summer.

The latest on Noah Sadiki amid Leeds United transfer rumours
Earlier in the summer, it was claimed that Leeds had seen a bid for Sadiki rejected by Belgian outfit Union SG. That claim was later played down, but it’s now resurfaced in Belgian media where there are reports of Leeds United and Brentford having had bids for DR Congo international Sadiki rejected this summer.
Sud Info report that ‘several clubs have inquired’ for Sadiki and that Leeds have seen an £11million bid rejected, whilst Brentford have had a bid of £12.9million rejected. The same report then goes on to add that Union SG are holding out for £17.15million for the 20-year-old this summer.
He’s one of several central midfielders linked with a move to Leeds United so far this summer. Farke is clearly keen on adding one or two to his ranks this summer and he may turn all of his attention there as he closes in on a second centre-back signing in Bornauw.

The central midfielders who Leeds United want to sign this summer
Farke appears to be in the market specifically for a defensive midfielder this summer, like Sadiki.
Leeds United have been trying to sign Habib Diarra who is a similar player to Sadiki. But Sunderland are set to win the race for Diarra, paying a club record fee of more than £30million per reports.
Elsewhere, Kalvin Phillips has been linked on and off throughout the summer but he doesn’t seem like an active transfer target for Farke.
Leeds are interested in Club Brugge’s Raphael Onyedika too, whilst Southampton’s Shea Charles has been linked, although he looks set to either stay at Southampton or potentially join Rangers this summer.
For Leeds then, the search for a new holding midfielder seems to have hit a few roadblocks so far. But Farke and co are certainly out there looking and ready to spend well on a new name,
