Leeds United are determined to add elite firepower to their attacking frontline as they look to assert themselves in the Premier League following a successful battle against relegation.
The Elland Road board have already shown massive ambition in the market by striking a deal to secure Wales international Harry Wilson on a free transfer from Fulham.
Club chiefs are also actively working behind the scenes on an incredibly high-profile move to land German attacker Julian Brandt on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund.
While a variety of centre-forwards, including Feyenoord’s Ayase Ueda and Juventus’ Lois Openda, have been linked with a move to West Yorkshire, a fresh market opportunity has emerged via the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Folarin Balogun is available for transfer amid historic Leeds United interest
United States international Folarin Balogun is widely understood to be seeking an exit from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco this summer.
The 24-year-old has hit a contract standstill in France, and while Monaco are ready to cash in on his tournament form, they will demand a steep fee of around £43million to let him leave.
Given Leeds United’s historical interest in the former Arsenal frontman, speculation has naturally intensified over whether the Whites will re-enter the race.
However, the latest update from transfer expert Ben Jacobs suggests the decision-makers are being incredibly smart by refusing to get distracted by the expensive American striker.

Jacobs provided a direct update on Balogun’s situation, outlining exactly where the player stands on the Leeds United recruitment radar during an appearance on the Latte Firm podcast.
He detailed that while multiple clubs have made enquiries over Balogun, the Yorkshire side currently have their sights set on much more efficient, high-impact business.
Speaking on Latte Firm, he said: “One of the most interesting is actually newly promoted Coventry City because they’ve already got Haji Wright. So there would be a US men’s national team battle between Wright and Balogun.
“Another team that are looking for a forward that have made a recent inquiry is Ipswich Town. And then you’ve got historical interest from both Leeds United and Brighton.
“At this stage, I’m not aware that those two clubs have come back into the mix. Leeds at the moment are focused on players like Harry Wilson and Julian Brandt, which would be ambitious signings if they can pull it off.”

Elland Road is chasing better value
The update from Jacobs clarifies that while Leeds United retain a historical admiration for Balogun, they have absolutely no intention of paying a premium for the striker.
The club’s immediate financial and administrative focus is being perfectly funnelled into wrapping up the foundational deals for Wilson and Brandt instead.
Chasing a marquee £43m striker makes little sense when Daniel Farke can secure elite, Champions League-proven creators without decimating the club’s summer budget.
By letting the Balogun noise pass them by, Paraag Marathe and Co. are proving that their tactical blueprint is finally being dictated by strategy rather than transfer panic.
