Leeds United’s pursuit of new signings has not stopped with Angus Kinnear’s end-of-season exit to Everton, with the club likely to be preparing for a Premier League campaign next term.
The Whites failed to beat QPR on Saturday and both Burnley and Sheffield United took advantage, as they closed the gap on Daniel Farke’s men. But Leeds remain confident, still top of the league table.
Goal difference is the difference between the top two with Scott Parker’s Burnley in third after their win over Swansea, two points back. But if Leeds are to survive in the Premier League, planning must start.
Well, it appears Leeds are doing just that. The Whites have already been linked with moves for a number of top-tier players includingthe likes of Tammy Abraham – but now, a Ligue 1 wonderkid is on the radar.
Leeds and Celtic battling to sign Nantes wonderkid for £8.5m
According to a report from Le Republicain Sportif, Leeds and Celtic are both interested in doing a deal for Nantes’ teen winger Herba Guirassy. Born in 2006 and turning 18 last August, he’s made a breakthrough.
Indeed, the France U19 star has clocked up all 17 of his senior outings for Nantes this season and scored three goals. He’s netted three goals, two of which have come in Ligue 1 and another in Coupe De France.
The report states that both Leeds and soon-to-be 2024-25 Scottish champions Celtic want to sign the wide man, who has explosive pace and can play on either flank. Nantes will do business for around £8.5m.
Does interest in Guirassy suggest a Manor Solomon hint?
Solomon is on loan but with the Tottenham man on board, Leeds have four top-class wingers available to them. Four wide men capable of Premier League football, three of which have played in the top tier.
While Leeds are confident of signing Solomon, there are other clubs eyeing the Israel ace. Everton are also said to be keen with Kinnear potentially set to and lure Solomon to Merseyside, ahead of The Whites.
Perhaps, interest in Guirassy is a back-up in case Leeds do not manage to do a deal for Solomon. Should Leeds do manage to nab Solomon permanently – which could cost £15m – Guirassy could be targeted.
