Leeds United learn new price tag for ‘majestic’ player as Daniel Farke’s reunion is under threat

With the window progressing along nicely, Leeds United need to step up their efforts.

It feels like an age since the Whites made a signing, even though Gabriel Gudmundsson’s arrival was confirmed six days ago.

This is due to a slight standstill taking place as Daniel Farke might be scratching his head at the stoppage of deals.

However, the 49ers might be working silently as they look to progress in the market in a way that deals get done efficiently at Leeds.

This could now be the case for Anton Stach as Hoffenheim look to sell, and the same can be said for a key target in Farke’s plan, but a threat is lurking.

Daniel Farke’s Josh Sargent reunion at Leeds United is under threat

A striker should be one of the next aims for the 49ers, as there is still concern over Joel Piroe’s position.

Although a section of Leeds fans back Piroe in the Premier League, his inconsistency last season raised alarm bells.

This could lead to Farke seeking a reunion with Norwich City striker Josh Sargent, as the German was the one who brought the American to England.

Norwich have seemingly signed Sargent’s replacement, which gives Leeds the chance to land a potential deal, with the Canaries demanding £16m for Sargent.

With Leeds and Burnley both interested in Sargent, the fee stated above might not be the true fee after all, as the 49ers might have to pay more than expected.

Alan Nixon is reporting that Norwich have set an asking price of £20m, which is more than Burnley are willing to pay, which giving every chance for Leeds to complete a deal with the 25-year-old.

Leeds target Sargent isn’t listening to Chris Sutton at the moment

With the USMNT striker thriving at Championship level, surely it’s time for the step-up to the Premier League.

After 44 goals at this level, Sargent has shown he’s a class above this level, and he can bring this class into the Premier League.

Ex-Norwich striker and pundit Chris Sutton claimed Sargent can’t waste his time, but with the Championship season creeping up, that’s exactly what he’s doing.

With Burnley out of the race, a £20m fee seems like a bargain for a striker who does things much better than Piroe, and Farke will jump at the chance to reunite with him.
