Leeds United may have lost the Championship play-off final but have incredibly been linked with a move for a £51 million rated striker this summer.
The Whites were consigned to a second successive season of Championship football after the defeat at Wembley, though chairman Paraag Marathe has already come out and made his intentions clear for the new season.
Marathe has confirmed there will be money available for Daniel Farke to spend, while the minority investment from Red Bull is also likely to help them in the market.
That said, in no way will Leeds be spending the sort of cash that will be needed to land players of this calibre.
Had Leeds gone up, they would’ve been shopping in a completely different market to the one they will now be looking towards, but this is certainly a crazy link nonetheless.

Leeds incredibly linked with Feyenoord star Santiago Gimenez
With money there to spend, Leeds will certainly be looking to be ambitious in the window this summer as they look to build a squad ready for another promotion push.
On paper, the Championship certainly looks a little weaker this time around and so if Leeds can get their signings right, there is no reason why they can’t go one better.
Amid Patrick Bamford’s injury problems and the potential of him leaving, striker is certainly a position in which they will be looking to strengthen before the start of the season.
And incredibly according to outlet Azteca Deportes, Leeds are one of the sides who have been linked with signing Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez.
Gimenez scored 26 goals in all competitions from the Dutch side last season, 23 of which came in the Eredivisie as they came up short in their push to retain the title.
Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton are also among the clubs said to be interested in Gimenez, who is expected to leave.

Leeds have no chance in Gimenez race
After Leeds’ failure to win promotion, there is simply no chance of this happening. According to a Turkish ESPN, Goal and TNT Sports transfer reporter, Feyenoord are expected to demand £51 million for his signature.
That sort of cash is something Leeds simply would not be able to afford, even if they were a Premier League side, but certainly not in the Championship.
It would not be a surprise if Leeds’ name has just been mentioned as a potential destination had they been promoted.
Leeds will not be shopping in the same market as either Liverpool or Spurs this summer and any striker they bring in will cost significantly less than that.
