The search for a new goalkeeper continues with Leeds United keen to replace Illan Meslier and bring in a starting no.1 ahead of the Premier League opener against Everton on August 18.

Leeds have been linked with a plethora of different goalkeepers already this summer. England stoppers Sam Johnstone, Aaron Ramsdale, James Trafford and Nick Pope have all been linked with Leeds at points.

More recently, Leeds are interested in Lyon’s Lucas Perri, though Lyon have won their appeal against the drop to Ligue 2. It now feels unlikely that Perri would leave Lyon, unless the French club need to sell.

Vanja Milinkovic-Savic has chosen to pursue a move to Napoli over Leeds, despite the Serbian giant potentially being back-up at Napoli. Now, Leeds have added a new goalkeeper to their shortlist.

Leeds battling Sunderland again, this time for Senne Lammens

Leeds and Sunderland continue to be linked with the same players, with Reinildo Mandava, Habib Diarra and Noah Sadiki all moving to Sunderland after Leeds had made moves for the trio earlier this summer.

Now, Belgian outlet Nieuwsblad claim Leeds and Sunderland are interested in Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens. The 23-year-old has now clocked up 60 appearances for Antwerp, 44 of which came last term.

Lammens joined Antwerp from Club Brugge in the summer of 2023, but he only played four times for Brugge and it convinced him to move to rivals Antwerp, where he has found game time more accessible.

Jesse Marsch tried to sign Senne Lammens for Leeds United

Six months prior to the end of his Brugge contract in January 2023, Leeds were linked with a move for Lammens. Nothing materialised and six months later, he completed a free transfer to new side Antwerp.

Earlier this year, Lammens said that he held talks with Leeds who at the time were still managed by Jesse Marsch. Of course, the American would lose his job a month later after defeat at Nottingham Forest.

Now, Lammens is no longer just a young back-up goalkeeper. This is a shot-stopper considered one of the best in Belgium after his 2024-25 campaign and Lammens could be on his way to the Premier League.
