Leeds United have still not received ‘formal approach’ for £30m star despite claims he will leave

Speculation over the future of several Leeds United stars has been mounting since the play-off final defeat to Southampton.

The reality of a second season of Championship football means that player sales will be required this summer and it something in which 49ers Enterprises have already acknowledged behind-the-scenes.

Leeds will receive a reduction in parachute payments and so in order to remain compliant with the EFL’s Profit and Sustainability rules, funds will need raising in other ways.

And while Daniel Farke would, of course, like to keep all of his best players, he will have already recognised the hand in which he has been dealt by failing to win promotion in his first season.

Due to the amount of young talent in their squad, Leeds do have plenty of sellable assets who could depart this summer, but the window only having opened today, movement has so far been slow.

Update shared on Crysencio Summerville’s future at Leeds

Crysencio Summerville, Willy Gnonto, Archie Gray and Georginio Rutter have all been touted for exits from Elland Road this summer.

Given their age, all four of them would command some seriously high fees and according to football finance expert Adam Williams, some sales could be needed before June 30.

That is because it is the date which brings the current financial year to an end with £73 million still owed in transfer instalments by then.

However, as per the Athletic, Leeds are still yet to receive any ‘formal offers’ for the player who has been deemed the ‘most likely’ to move on this summer in Summerville.

Leeds are expected to command a fee of around £30 million to sell the 22-year-old, who was crowned the Championship’s POTS in April after an incredible individual season.

Several clubs including Liverpool, Chelsea, Brighton and Crystal Palace have so far been linked but it would appear they are still yet to make an official offer.

It will be interesting to see if Leeds actively look to move him on by the end of the month so they can start conducting their own transfer business, though Summerville is not expected to force an exit.

Chelsea transfer move could kick start Leeds transfer domino

Though Chelsea are one of the clubs said to be interested in Summerville this summer, it is actually a move for another winger that could kick start the transfer domino.

Chelsea are in a strong position to win the race for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise and Summerville is reportedly someone the Eagles could move for as a replacement.

With that in mind, if Chelsea can wrap up a deal for Olise swiftly, it may well be the transfer domino Leeds need to kick start their window.

A release clause of £60 million has been mentioned for Olise, and knowing the amount they would have to spend on replacing him, it would put Leeds in a strong position at the negotiating table.
