No new signings have arrived at Elland Road so far in this January transfer window. But it could be just a matter of time before Leeds United pull the trigger on their first signing of 2025.
Although there’s growing concerns about the lack of transfer activity at Leeds United right now, it would be foolish to think that the club aren’t working on any new signings as we speak.
More of a mystery is what position Daniel Farke will bolster first. There’s uncertainty over Illan Meslier Leeds future, a need for a new centre-back and arguably a new striker too, with those two positions looking particularly low on numbers.
There’s been a handful of strikers linked. Farke though is thought to be content with his current options, which right now are Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph given the injury to Patrick Bamford.
One striker linked is Mergim Berisha. German forward Berisha has been told he’s free to leave Hoffenheim during this January transfer window.

Leeds United handed possible Mergim Berisha boost as loan move touted
An emerging report from German language outlet LAOLA1 has revealed the latest plans for Berisha at Hoffenheim, and some emerging new interest from Italy with Serie A strugglers AC Monza now interested, along with Leeds United.
They report that Hoffenheim could now be tempted by a loan-to-buy deal for Berisha rather than a straight sale during this January transfer window. It may suggest a lack of incomings bids for the twice-caped Germany international.
Whether Leeds would be open to a loan deal remains to be seen. The Whites have space with only two players currently on loan (Manor Solomon and Joe Rothwell), and if Farke can agree some kind of deal that gives Leeds an option not to sign Berisha, should he prove a poor signing, it could be a win-win.

Mergim Berisha to West Ham latest
Leeds aren’t the only team in for Berisha right now. It’s also been reported that Werder Bremen are interested, and more recently West Ham.
But an emerging claim from TBR Football has revealed that, whilst the Hammers were offered the chance to sign Berisha, they didn’t even respond to the offer.
Whilst a slap in the face for Berisha, it leaves him free to potentially join Leeds where he’d get more game time anyway.
Expect there to be a number of unnamed clubs in the race to sign the 26-year-old who has proven in the past that he has goals in him, but now needs a fresh start.
It’s thought that Hoffenheim want £5.8million for Berisha, which is only half of what they paid Augsburg to sign Berisha in 2924.
