Leeds United have interest in Leicester City’s versatile full-back James Justin, with the club seeking Isaac Schmidt’s replacement.

With Isaac Schmidt allowed to head on loan to Werder Bremen if the 49ers and Daniel Farke replace him, Leeds United have turned to James Justin as an option instead.

Leeds United News sources exclusively revealed the Whites would look to sign at least six more players and they have acquired two since, leaving a minimum of four more between now and the end of the window.

Full-back is one area with more depth and quality needed. Since then, we revealed Leeds’ serious interest in Leicester’s Justin. The 27-year-old can operate at both left and right-back.

There were some fans even calling for Justin when the Schmidt and Werder Bremen news landed, while others have since reacted to the idea of the utility player.

Leeds supporters took to Twitter/X to provide their verdict on the latest link. Many are pleased with the fact Justin is someone the club has in mind for full-back cover.

In the wake of Schmidt’s news, one Leeds fan said: “Get James Justin from Leicester, good pedigree and can play rb or lb.”

Another on Twitter/X said: “I’d be happy with this. He would bring valuable prem experience. Can play at RB and LB too.”

Another Leeds fan said: “Yeah. Few people mentioned it the other day. Last year of contract, cheap, some PL experience, not the greatest player ever but he’s alright I guess.”

A further response said: “Paixao wouldn’t have been top of our list. We’d have had our realistic options and he’d have been a one to watch kind of player. Always unrealistic. Anyway we move on and we need: Winger RB cover – James Justin? ST”

Leeds fans will love what Brendan Rodgers said about James Justin previously

Considering that both Jayden Bogle and Gabriel Gudmundsson are more attack-minded than they are defensive, Leeds might want to sign a more well-rounded full-back.

One who can play both sides is even more valuable, which Justin’s two-footed nature allows him to do. Speaking in October 2022, Brendan Rodgers explained, via Leicestershire Live, how Justin is a quality defensive full-back.

“He’s still getting his feeling in the game,” Rodgers said on the full-back. “What you get with JJ is he’s a fantastic defender. What sometimes takes time is the feeling of the ball again and the positioning.

“But I’ve got absolute trust in him as a player. He dedicates his life to his profession. He’s always prepared and ready, he was out there doing extra bits on his touch, his pass, and his lines of pass.

“Normally people say it’s the length of time you’ve been out, that’s the time it takes to get back to your peak level again.

“But there’s no doubt he gives himself every chance because his professionalism is unbelievable and he’s a very talented young player.

“It’s great to have him fit again and being able to play, and when he plays he always gives 100 percent.”
