Leeds could do with making a sale or two this winter.
The 49ers are said to be able to ‘find’ £25m for Daniel Farke to spend on reinforcements – according to the Daily Mail – but a sale would be welcome due to PSR limitations at Elland Road right now.
Some cash could be heading the way of Leeds as Valencia step up talks to sign Jack Harrison – who is keen on the move to Spain.
However, if Leeds fans had their way, it would be Joel Piroe departing Yorkshire this month.
Leeds United fans tell TalkingPoints that Joel Piroe must be sold
We have a new platform here on Leeds United News called TalkingPoints – where fans can interact and discuss a range of topics within an article.
Which striker would you like at Leeds the most? 🤑
One recent discussion saw the fanbase debate who should be sold to raise some cash and ease the PSR situation, with the majority arguing that Piroe should be offloaded.
The Dutchman cost Leeds £16m in a move from Swansea back in August 2023, and despite making just two Premier League starts this season, his stock remains high having won the Golden Boot last season with 19 goals in 46 Championship appearances.
One Leeds fan wrote: “Piroe definitely has to go, he knows it himself. Too lightweight for the Prem, Championship is his level.”
Funnily enough, Gary Neville also called Piroe out in a similar fashion, arguing that the Leeds No.10 is too “weak” for the Premier League.
Another fan said they would like Leeds to sign Ayase Ueda – who has been linked – while arguing that Piroe has been nothing more than a passenger this season. They posted: “Ayase Ueda, Japanese international at Feyenoord as a striker. Too many passengers. Piroe and a few more not up to Premier League standard. Not enough selling last summer.”
A third opined that Leeds ought to “get rid” of the 26-year-old if Farke continues to leave him out, a sensible outlook considering he still has 18 months left on his contract and could bring in a decent amount of cash.
They commented: “If Farke is content on not playing Piroe, get rid of him.”

Another simply wrote “Piroe” in response to our question.
A fifth supporter wanted to make themselves heard by writing all in capital letters in response to one fan claiming Willy Gnonto should be sold, posting: “WON’T BE GOING ANYWHERE, PIROE IS GONE.”
Last but not least, another responded: “Piroe as a forward has not scored many goals – whereas when he was a regular player he was keeping out other players.”
Overall, Leeds fans do not seem to hate the Wijchen-born striker and want to force him out, but it is more a case of him simply being the most valuable asset Farke can afford to part with this winter.
Where could Joel Piroe end up?
As aforesaid, the Leeds marksman carries a strong reputation as the reigning Championship Golden Boot winner despite his lack of action this season, and a number of clubs in the second tier are admirers.
Answer this: Leeds United will finish in ___th place if Dominic Calvert-Lewin stays fit 📊
Six goals in five for the big man!
The Daily Mail believe Ipswich and Leicester are keen to sign Piroe – while Middlesbrough have also been credited with an interest.
If Leeds do decide to put the former PSV Eindhoven striker on the market, we thoroughly expect more Championship clubs to make approaches.
