Leeds United are ‘weighing up’ new bid for ‘special’ player after seeing £8m approach rejected

Just like 12 months ago, Leeds United are in for a very busy end to the transfer window.

Leeds have just four days to complete any remaining business, of which there is plenty expected as Daniel Farke plots at least three new signings.

Prior to Largie Ramazani’s arrival last week, Leeds had been in the market for four more but that figure could actually be more based on new reports.

Manor Solomon is expected to be the next signing through the door which you would’ve expected to be the final attacking reinforcement, but Leeds are now considering a bid for Roland Sallai.

As well as Sallai, Leeds are in the market for a new full-back and central midfielder. Another centre-back could also come onto the radar if Max Wober returns to Borussia Monchengladbach.

Leeds weighing up new Dejan Ljubicic bid

Based on a £13 million offer for Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer, a new attack-minded number eight is a position Leeds are clearly willing to spend big on.

The Blades have told Leeds to up their offer for Hamer but it would appear that saga is over before it’s even started, with a second bid unlikely.

As such, Leeds will now have to move onto other options and according to the Daily Mail, interest could be reignited in FC Koln’s Dejan Ljubicic.

As per the report, Leeds are ‘weighing up’ a second bid for the 26-year-old after seeing an initial approach of £8 million knocked back.

That figure is way beyond what was reported by the German press regarding Leeds’ interest in Ljubicic, with initial reports suggesting it was over half that.

The ‘special‘ Ljubicic is out of contract at FC Koln next summer and so £8 million certainly seems on the high side, but it will be interesting to see if Leeds now return for him after failing in their Hamer pursuit.

What is Ljubicic’s stance on a move to Leeds

Ljubicic has continued to play for Koln amid the ongoing interest from Leeds and even scored twice in a 5-0 win over the weekend.

However, it has been widely reported that Ljubicic is keen on a switch to Elland Road, and has even been dropped by his agent as a result of his antics behind-the-scenes.

This is actually the fifth time in 18 months Ljubicic has changed his representatives and based on that alone, Leeds may be wise staying away from this.

There are plenty of midfielders out there who could be available before the deadline, including Bournemouth’s Philip Billing, who would be a great signing.
