Reports emerged over the weekend that there is growing interest from Championship clubs in Leeds United wonderkid Harry Gray, and now Leeds’ stance on the youngster has been revealed.

Last week, Gray took his tally to 10 goals for the season in the U21 side. It prompted supporters, and not for the first time this season, to urge Daniel Farke to start using the 17-year-old in the Leeds first team.

Farke not only needs results, but he needs to win back sections of the fanbase that believe a change is needed. Large sections of the support believe Farke should be sacked after the 3-1 loss against Forest.

If Farke is to win fans back over, some good results and better decision-making are required. One move that would prove to be a benefit to Farke’s tenure is bringing Gray into the fold, but it looks unlikely.

Leeds United stance on Harry Gray leaving on loan in January

It is claimed that Championship quartet Derby, Charlton, Hull and Swansea are all keen on signing Gray on loan in January. Of course, there is time on Gray’s side and a loan in the second tier would be a test.

The pressure is mounting on Daniel Farke… should Leeds United sack him?⌛

Leeds fans, however, reacted angrily to the reports regarding Gray. Many believe that Gray, who has already scored more than the entire first team has managed in the Premier League, deserves a chance.

But TeamTalk say that Leeds are willing to let the England youth international leave on loan in the winter window until the end of the season. Leeds feel a loan would help maximise the youngster’s potential.

Harry Gray and Joe Gelhardt attack could fire Hull to the play-offs

The report from TeamTalk states that Leeds will analyse the clubs interested and pick the one they feel will maximise Gray’s growth during a loan spell. They only have to look at Joe Gelhardt’s form when choosing.

Gelhardt has five goals and two assists in his last six games, with some suggesting a recall is considered. But Gelhardt is set to remain at Hull despite Leeds boasting a recall clause in the striker’s Hull loan deal.

Gray has said Gelhardt is enjoying a Ballon d’Or season, but the duo could combine come January to fire Sergej Jakirovic’s side towards the play-offs. Hull sit in fifth place in the race to finish in the top six.
