Leeds hit with more bad news after Georginio Rutter as they now miss out on left-back target

Leeds United fans are being made to endure a dismal transfer window in which the club continue to sell their best players without bringing in any replacements, as of yet.

Following the departures of Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray and Glen Kamara, it is now being widely reported that Georginio Rutter will leave Leeds having agreed to join Brighton in a deal worth £40m.

Leeds have given themselves plenty to do in the final fortnight of the transfer window. The two opening matches against Portsmouth and Middlesbrough have shown just how much quality if currently lacking.

The pressure is on Daniel Farke even if he has seen the heart ripped out of his Leeds side by The 49ers. The club now require replacements for Summerville and Rutter, a goalscoring midfielder and a left-back.

Left-back on Elland Road radar chooses to join another club

With Sam Byram the only other full-back in the squad acting as cover for Jayden Bogle and Junior Firpo, it is clear that Leeds need a left-back. Anselmo MacNulty, Hugo Bueno and plenty more have been linked.

Bueno has joined Feyenoord and posted on Instagram this week following his loan move. Milan’s Fode Ballo-Toure is also said to be a target for Leeds, with Milan desperate to offload the Senegal international.

But a report from CalcioMercato states that while Ballo-Toure was waiting for an offer from England with Leeds and Watford keen, he has a bid on the table from Ligue 1 side St. Etienne and will gladly accept it.

Of course, failure to gain promotion always meant a few players would leave. Fans knew the club would have to sell one or two big names to balance the books, with Summerville always expected to exit Leeds.

But what is annoying Leeds fans is that the club are now set to sell a fourth player that was key to the side last season, without making any meaningful replacements. That, and combined with a poor 24-25 start.

Ballo-Toure looks as if he is the latest player to snub a move to Yorkshire and choose another club this summer after Bueno’s move to Feyenoord. Leeds are running out of time and patience from supporters.
