Leeds United face a massive squad-clearing job as they prepare for another season in the Premier League, and Daniel Farke has no reason to be sentimental.
Both Largie Ramazani and Mateo Joseph have officially returned to Elland Road following their respective loan spells with Valencia and Real Mallorca.
While the return of the two attackers might look like a depth boost on paper, the cold, hard truth is that neither of them have proven they are of Premier League quality.
With real, escalating interest now emerging from Spain for both players, Leeds United have the perfect opportunity to cut ties, pocket the cash, and invest in top-tier players who can actually keep the club in the top flight.

The Largie Ramazani stand-off: Call Valencia’s bluff
The situation surrounding Belgian winger Ramazani is a litmus test for Leeds’ transfer resolve.
According to El Desmarque, Valencia have formally earmarked a squad spot for the attacker, but are playing a waiting game because the Whites’ initial asking price is deemed ‘prohibitive’.
Valencia are keen to sign the 25-year-old either on loan with an option to buy or a permanent deal.
The Spanish outlet explicitly notes that Leeds United do not want Ramazani and do not count on him for next season.

This is entirely the correct stance. Ramazani is a highly inconsistent, luxury player whom a top-flight side cannot afford to carry.
While he showed flashes of speed and scored six goals in Spain, his tactical discipline has always been a question mark.
Leeds are currently playing a smart game of poker by holding firm on their valuation. They must continue to resist Valencia’s cheap tricks, demand a permanent fee, and get him off the books for good.

Why Mateo Joseph must follow him out the Leeds United door
Ramazani is not the only returning attacker Leeds United need to wash their hands of.
According to Spanish radio station Cadena SER, Real Mallorca’s head coach, Luis Garcia, has expressed his desire to see Joseph return to the club.
Mallorca might view him as a potential hero, but Leeds United must treat this as their cue to sell.
The reality is that there is no way back for Joseph under Farke. The relationship between the player and the manager completely fractured last year.

At the time, Farke made it abundantly clear that the striker was no longer in his plans.
When you combine that bitter fallout with a deeply underwhelming loan spell at Mallorca, where he scored just two goals in 30 appearances, before suffering a season-ending injury, it is glaringly obvious that Joseph does not possess the clinical edge or the attitude required for a Premier League campaign.
Leeds United must let Mallorca take him permanently.
The verdict
The Premier League is an unforgiving arena. Keeping players who have burned bridges with the manager or who simply lack the technical consistency to produce at the highest level is a recipe for disaster.
Farke’s fallout with Joseph actually makes the club’s job incredibly simple, while Ramazani’s market value in Spain remains decent.
With Valencia hovering for Ramazani and Mallorca keen for Joseph to help their promotion back after suffering relegation last term, Leeds United have a rare bit of leverage.
Sell them both, clear the wage bill, and reinvest the funds into players who are actually ready to fight for the shirt at Elland Road.
