The transfer window has come to a close and Leeds United end the window with 10 signings brought in and over £100m spent, while 13 senior players have left the club.

Leeds failed to get Harry Wilson over the line on deadline day, but when the dust settles, the club have done what was asked of them at the beginning of the window even if Leeds do seem a bit light up top.

The pressure is now on the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Noah Okafor, Willy Gnonto and Dan James to produce their best form and keep Leeds in the Premier League. One senior sale was made this summer.

Sam Greenwood joined Polish side Pogon for £3.5m and laid on an assist during a 2-0 win on his debut. Isaac Schmidt, Max Wober, Joe Gelhardt, Charlie Crew, Largie Ramazani and Mateo Joseph all left on loan.

Jon Newsome says Patrick Bamford will feel relieved at Leeds exit

There is a debate that Leeds’ attack is actually worse off in the Premier League this season, than it was in the Championship last season having waved goodbye to Bamford, Joseph, Ramazani and Solomon.

In their place, Leeds have signed Okafor, Calvert-Lewin, and Lukas Nmecha, while also choosing to bring Jack Harrison back into the squad. Jon Newsome was asked if it was right to let Bamford and Joseph go.

Newsome told Don’t Go To Bed Just Yet’s deadline-day special: “I think Joseph wanted to go. He had an opportunity last year and I don’t think he stepped up to the level we thought he might do last season.

“I’m sure Patrick is devastated, but I bet there is an element of relief. He’s had injuries, a bit of stick, and now he’s got a fresh start. I do believe he was on monster money. I understand why the club let them go.”

What are Leeds lacking in final third ahead of relegation fight?

So, Leeds ended the window with Wilson remaining at Fulham. Farke wanted a versatile attacker in the final days of the window, and Leeds opting not to pursue a striker shows they are happy right up top.

But that is currently Joel Piroe who has seemed like a rabbit in the headlights after making his Premier League bow. Nmecha looks like a handful but his injury record is poor, and Calvert-Lewin is rusty.

Leeds lacked a big-money striker signing. They’ve opted to go low-risk in terms of finances, but the consequences could be enormous. At least, the defence, midfield and goalkeeper have been improved.
