Dejan Ljubicic was the subject of an offer from Leeds United this summer and there are suggestions The Whites could return with an offer, and now the midfielder has spoken out on his future.

Leeds are in the market to find a goalscoring midfielder that can replace Glen Kamara. The Finland star swapped Leeds for Rennes after just one season at Elland Road, and The Whites are yet to replace him.

One player Daniel Farke’s side have targeted is Ljubicic. The 26-year-old has had a hand in 17 goals in 93 Koln games throughout his career, but has entered the final 12 months of his contract in Germany.

Koln have been relegated and Leeds tabled a £3.3m bid to sign Ljubicic, though it was rejected. So far, Leeds have not returned with a second offer for the Austria star though they have been linked with one.

Leeds target Ljubicic has spoken out on his future this week

The versatile midfielder did not enjoy the best of seasons last term, suffering with many illnesses. But he is good to go with whichever club that is, whether it’s in the second tier of England or German football.

Speaking to German site 90Minuten, Ljubicic was asked about rumours surrounding his future with Leeds and Greek side PAOK linked. Responding simply, saying he just wants to show the world what he can do.

“Rumours are part of football. I don’t concern myself with them. I’m here in Cologne, I want to perform well again. I want to show people that ‘Dejan is playing good, powerful football again’,” Ljubicic said.

What Graeme Bailey has told us about a second Ljubicic offer

The transfer expert is at his busiest of the summer and told LeedsUnited.News recently that Leeds will return with a second offer for the Austria star. It is unclear how much Leeds are willing to pay for him.

It is also unclear how much Koln want for Ljubicic, but what will prove to be fact is that Koln will have to request a fee below his maximum value due to relegation last season and he has a year left on his deal.

There is no doubt that Leeds need a progressive no.8 to go alongside either Ethan Ampadu or Ilia Gruev. Joe Rothwell has been signed but it is said the on-loan Bournemouth man is not to replace Kamara.
