Leeds United saw a £13m bid rejected for Sheffield United midfielder Gustavo Hamer according to reports on Monday, and now Leeds United News has been told how much Sheffield United want.

The 25-year-old has emerged as a late target for Daniel Farke’s side this month as The Whites look to bring in a midfielder. Farke wanted four signings following the sale of Georginio Rutter to Brighton.

Two players in attacking positions to replace Rutter and Crysencio Summerville, a goalscoring midfielder and a new full-back. Brazil-born Hamer is a target but Leeds’ £13m bid for Hamer has been rejected.

It comes after having a hand in 44 goals in 126 games for both Coventry and Sheffield United in the Championship, with Hamer scoring two goals in his first three Championship games for the Blades.

Graeme Bailey says Sheffield United want big fee for Hamer

Hamer is considered one of the best midfielders in the Championship right now. Little surprise then, that Leeds are keen on luring the playmaker to Elland Road before the deadline on Friday night at 11.30pm.

We spoke to transfer expert Graeme Bailey about a move for Hamer. He told Leeds United News that while a second bid for the midfielder is unlikely, Sheffield United would be open to a deal for £20m or more.

“I am told at this point they [Leeds] are not expected to go back in for Hamer. Sheffield United would want £20m plus it seems. But it is the last week of the window and anything can happen,” Bailey said.

Ross McCormack concern ringing true in Leeds’ pursuit of Hamer

Leeds are looking to make a few signings before the end of the window with just three days left to run and it will be interesting to see how many deals they can do, and which players will arrive in Yorkshire.

But speaking on Tuesday morning, Ross McCormack highlighted the danger of trying to do a few deals late in the window. He said prices are only going to go up and that seems to be the case with Hamer.

“It’s really important that they get promoted. The problem that they’ve got is at this time in the window, is that prices are going to go up so it’s going to be hard for them to get players in,” McCormack said.
