Leeds United are expected to complete the signing of Manor Solomon on Tuesday but are still in the market for new additions, and Ross McCormack has identified a problem.
Following the sale of Georginio Rutter, Daniel Farke has said he wants four new signings. Replacements for Rutter and Crysencio Summerville as well as a new midfielder and a full-back ahead of the deadline.
Leeds have bagged themselves Largie Ramazani for £10m from Spanish side Almeria to replace winger Summerville. Tottenham ace Solomon is set to join on loan today, covering Georginio Rutter’s departure.
Max Aarons is a target for Leeds as a new full-back but Leeds face competition for Bournemouth player Aarons from two Serie A clubs, while Leeds have made a bid to sign Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer.
McCormack thinks Leeds could struggle in next few days
The state of play is this. Leeds want at least two more after Solomon’s move to Elland Road is confirmed, and have three days to do it. But having raked in so much cash, clubs know Leeds have money to spend.
Former Leeds captain McCormack has spoken to TalkSPORT (27/08, 7.40am) and says that it is important Leeds get promoted this season and thinks Farke’s side do need more signings, but may struggle.
“It’s really important that they get promoted. The problem that they’ve got is at this time in the window, is that prices are going to go up so it’s going to be hard for them to get players in,” McCormack said.
“I’ve watched them this season and yeah, they got a good result against Sheffield Wednesday but they could still do with one or two,” the former Aston Villa, Rangers and Fulham star continued on TalkSPORT.
Leeds also eyeing surprise move for Summerville’s new teammate
Leeds had not been expected to go in for a new striker in the final few days of the window. Leeds are well-stocked up top with Mateo Joseph starting ahead of Patrick Bamford, Joel Piroe and Joe Gelhardt.
But Fabrizio Romano says Leeds’ ‘next priority’ is a striker and The Whites will look to bring in a forward. Reports say that West Ham’s Danny Ings could be targeted by Leeds in the final few days of the window.
Whether Leeds do make a move for a new striker remains to be seen and will surely see the exit of one or two options sold by The 49ers before the end of the window. Plenty of work to be done at Elland Road.
