‘For sure’… Fabrizio Romano details what Leeds United’s ‘next priority’ will be in transfer window

With just a few days left to go in the transfer window, Leeds United are expected to make two or three more signings before the deadline and Fabrizio Romano has an update.

Largie Ramazani has been signed as the club’s fifth addition this summer, costing The Whites a fee of £10m after the signings of Joe Rodon, Joe Rothwell, Jayden Bogle and Alex Cairns as third-choice stopper.

Daniel Farke recently said he is keen on adding players to replace Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter as well as a full-back and a midfielder. Ramazani is expected to be seen as cover for Summerville.

Manor Solomon continues to be strongly linked and the Tottenham star underwent a medical at Leeds over the weekend. A loan deal is still on, but talks are said to be dragging on longer than first expected.

Romano says Leeds will prioritise signing a striker in last few days

Farke has said himself he would like a new full-back given Sam Byram is the only natural cover for Junior Firpo and Bogle. Byram himself is injury prone and Leeds will need another body in this area for back-up.

Then, a midfielder. Leeds have lost both Archie Gray and Glen Kamara this summer, and only brought in Rothwell as a replacement. But Romano has told Give Me Sport that signing a new striker is a “priority”.

“Yes, the next priority they are working on is signing a striker. Let’s see who it’s going to be but, for sure, Leeds will be busy with this in the next days,” Romano said, when speaking to Give Me Sport about Leeds.

One area in the Leeds squad that is well-stocked is strikers. Mateo Joseph has won the trust of Farke and is now first choice, especially after laying on two assists and being man of the match against Wednesday.

Patrick Bamford, Joel Piroe and Joe Gelhardt all provide cover for Joseph, with Piroe and Gelhardt able to be used in different positions. Luca Thomas is also coming through, after earning a German camp call-up.

So, Leeds don’t need a striker unless the likes of Piroe, Bamford or Gelhardt find themselves leaving the club before Friday. That seems unrealistic but if a decent offer does come in, they could be allowed to go.
