Leeds United have made three new signings this summer and are set to make their first permanent sale after already waving goodbye to four key players from last season’s side.
Sebastiaan Bornauw’s arrival saw Leeds complete their third summer signing after deals for Jaka Bijol and Lukas Nmecha. The trio arrive for a combined £20m, with Nmecha on a free and Bijol costing a £15m fee.
Also this week, Leeds confirmed Junior Firpo would join Josuha Guilavogui in leaving the club on a free this summer. The Whites also confirmed Joe Rothwell and Manor Solomon would return to parent clubs.
Solomon wanted a return to Tottenham and Rothwell has since completed a permanent move to Russell Martin’s Rangers. Now, Leeds are closing in on their first permanent sale of the summer, in Max Wober.

Leeds United are set to sell Max Wober to Werder Bremen
Wober has been an out-and-out failure at Leeds. Joining the club two and a half years ago, Wober has played just 28 times for Leeds. He was one of the eight to use the relegation loan clause to join Gladbach.
According to Austrian reporter Peter Linden on his website this week, his decision to leave Leeds in the summer of 2023 left Daniel Farke ‘angry’. Last season, Wober managed just nine outings for The Whites.
Wober has undergone two knee operations in the past 12 months and which prevented him from playing more. Wober is set to join Bundesliga side Werder Bremen, with Linden reporting Leeds will get £3.5m.

What does Max Wober sale mean in terms of PSR at Leeds
Wober joined Leeds in January 2023 for a fee of £10m, reuniting with Jesse Marsch after the duo worked together at Salzburg. In the eyes of PSR, Wober’s fee is likely to be worked out as £2m over five years.
That means Wober has remained for £6m of his £10m fee. If Leeds received £4m for Wober this summer, they would break even on the Austrian. So, a £3.5m fee means Leeds make a loss, but only a small loss.
Solid business from The Whites given Wober has gone under the knife twice on his knee and was limited to just nine appearances during 2024-25. Leeds told Wober he would be sold, and now that is close.
