How likely Leeds United are to sign Harry Wilson as 49ers to go back in for him in January

The Harry Wilson situation remains a fluid and ongoing saga. While Fulham pulled the plug on the Wales star’s move to Leeds United in the summer, his long-term future remains a big doubt.

Having been linked with Leeds on multiple occasions during the Marcelo Bielsa years, Leeds finally made a move to land Wilson on deadline day in the summer. But Fulham wanted to get their business done.

They wanted to sign Samuel Chukwueze from AC Milan, which they did. They wanted to sign Tyrique George from Chelsea in a £22m deal, and they attempted a club-record move for Brazilian star Kevin.

Daniel Farke has admitted Leeds wanted Kevin, after the Brazilian gave Jayden Bogle a torrid 20 minutes earlier this season. Fulham got two of the three, but George stayed at Chelsea, and so Wilson remained.

Harry Wilson future remains in doubt with Leeds still interested

But that is not the end of the story. Ahead of January, Fulham may be forced into a sale of Wilson – who is currently on Wales duty with Ethan Ampadu, Karl Darlow, Joe Rodon and Dan James under Craig Bellamy.

Wilson is out of contract next summer. Either Fulham tie him down, sell him for a reduced rate in January, or let him go on a free in June. According to Sky Sports’ Rob Dorsett, Leeds want to sign him in January.

However, Dorsett reports, as per the Transfer Centre: “They would remain keen again in January as they look to strengthen their squad for a battle against relegation, but a move is currently deemed unlikely.”

Did Wilson want Leeds move? And what has Marco Silva said…

Leeds even applied for a deal sheet following the deadline at 7pm, with a move stuttering. However, nothing materialised and it has left Leeds light in attack, with Daniel Farke using Brenden Aaronson.

Leeds’ managing director Robbie Evans confirmed that Wilson wanted to join Leeds, after the window. While deadline day was ongoing, Wilson was on Wales duty and was likely prodded by Rodon to join.

Since then, Silva has maintained his desire to keep Wilson: “I know, really, the aim of him is to stay in the football club and if we can get an agreement, his future is going to be with us, [I’m] 100 per cent sure.”

If Leeds are to sign Wilson, then the Fulham star will have to reject the Cottagers’ offer of a new deal and request that he leaves in January. Would Fulham sell to Leeds mid-season? It seems very unlikely.
