It feels like it has been a long time coming, but Harry Wilson could now end up at Leeds United after all and Daniel Farke’s side have just received some good news in pursuit of the Welshman.

Much like Dan James’ failed move to Leeds in January 2020, Harry Wilson was on the verge of joining Leeds in the final hours of the 2025 window. Fulham, though, pulled the plug before the deadline.

Would you sign Harry Wilson next summer, when his contract ends? 🪄

He's still out of contract.

Wilson remained as the Cottagers failed to get the required replacements through the door. The Wales star would go on to have his best domestic season yet. A total of 17 Premier League goals and assists.

But Wilson’s long-term future remained in doubt. He is out of contract in a week’s time, and a new deal at Fulham is unlikely, especially with Marco Silva leaving Fulham and joining Portuguese giants Benfica.

Leeds closing in on Harry Wilson signing and receive good news

Wilson is on the radar of many clubs both in the Premier League and abroad, but the former Liverpool star could end up at Leeds. It comes after a report from Beren Cross on The Athletic on Tuesday morning.

Indeed, Cross reports that Leeds are in talks with Wilson’s representatives. A deal would see Wilson join a strong Welsh contingent that already consists of Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon, Dan James and Karl Darlow.

But the positive is that Wilson’s representatives are working with Leeds: “Leeds United and Harry Wilson’s representatives are in positive talks over terms which takes the Wales international to Elland Road.

“The 29-year-old’s contract expires this month. He will be a free agent from July 1. A move to Leeds collapsed on the final day of last summer’s window, but both parties are now trying to find an agreement.

“Competition for Wilson’s signature is fierce, with other clubs also in talks with representatives of the player, who scored 10 Premier League goals last season,” Cross continued on The Athletic’s website.

What Robbie Evans said about Harry Wilson’s failed move

Leeds fans were left gutted at the end of the last summer window when the signing of Wilson did not come off. Luckily for Leeds, Brenden Aaronson enjoyed his best season in a Leeds shirt since joining.

Leeds United’s toughest month is January – agree or disagree? 😮

The 2026-27 Premier League fixtures have been announced!

But Aaronson remains inconsistent, and Leeds do need better in attacking midfield. Wilson is in his peak years and would certainly provide that. Speaking last summer, Robbie Evans said Wilson was interested.

He told BBC Sport last summer that Wilson wanted to join: “We thought we had the right price and we put the offer in above that price. The player was on board, but his club could not get it done.”

Wilson is a better player now than he was 12 months ago, after such a mercurial season in a Fulham shirt. If Leeds get him on a free transfer, it would be one of the best bits of business under Farke’s stewardship.
