Rasmus Kristensen is likely to have his future at Leeds United decided in the coming days.
It is now over two weeks since Kristensen and his Denmark teammates were knocked out of Euro 2024 by Germany in the last-16, meaning he will be due back for pre-season shortly.
His return to Thorp Arch is likely to accelerate talks with Daniel Farke over his plans for the season, with it still unclear whether he will be sticking around.
With no active loan clause in his contract, Kristensen finds himself in a similar situation to that of Max Wober, having both spent last season out on loan.
However, permanent interest has so far been at a premium and given Brenden Aaronson’s decision to return, it has only increased the spotlight on Kristensen and Wober.
Romano shares major update on Kristensen’s Leeds future
At the moment, Kristensen is one of only two right-backs on the books at Leeds following the exits of Connor Roberts, Jamie Shackleton and Archie Gray.
However, it is a position they have been extensively looking at in recent days, which would indicate that his future may well be elsewhere.
Leeds have seen two offers rejected for Sheffield United’s Jayden Bogle, while former loanee Roberts is also still of interest to Farke.
Neither of those would come into be second choice, and it is unlikely Kristensen would settle for that either. Now, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on his future.
The transfer expert wrote on Twitter earlier this afternoon that Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt are now interested in a potential deal.
He does not make it clear whether that would be on loan or permanent, but given the lack of clause in his contract this time around, hopefully it would be the latter.
Romano says Kristensen currently features on a shortlist of targets and so it would appear interest is at an early stage. By moving to Frankfurt, he would be linking up with former Leeds teammate Robin Koch.
Kristensen exit is best solution for all parties
Though Aaronson has been welcomed back by Farke, it would be best for all parties if Kristensen moved on this summer.
This time last year, Aaronson was already out of the door at Leeds before Farke had even arrived at Elland Road.
In contrast, Kristensen had actually made it clear he would be open to remaining at Leeds, until the first sign of interest came from AS Roma.
As such, he may find it more difficult to welcome him back into the squad and so if Leeds can get anywhere near the £10 million they paid for him, it would be great business.
