Leeds United’s 2-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday was followed by a major new transfer update from Fabrizio Romano.
The Whites were able to pick up their first win of the season at Hillsborough to mark the end of a productive couple of days, but the good news does not end there.
Having endured a really tough opening week of the season, Leeds have managed to turn around the feeling at the club, with Largie Ramazani’s arrival from UD Almeria ending a 32-day wait for a signing.
Ramazani was not signed in time to feature at Sheffield Wednesday but even without any new faces in the side, Leeds looked considerably better than at West Brom last weekend, with Brenden Aaronson making a difference.
Aaronson was able to set Leeds on their way to a win with his second goal of the season, before Dan James added a second. They are now set to be joined by yet another attacking signing.
Leeds close to completing Manor Solomon deal
Even after Ramazani’s arrival, Leeds were always in the market for another attacking signing following the departure of Georginio Rutter.
There have been links to plenty of potential targets including Manuel Benson, Roland Sallai and Ilan Kebbal, but it another player who is close to an Elland Road switch.
Just over an hour after full-time in South Yorkshire, Fabrizio Romano wrote on his Twitter account that Leeds are on the verge of sealing a deal for Tottenham winger Manor Solomon.
Solomon is set to arrive on a season-long-loan from Spurs and will undergo a medical in West Yorkshire today ahead of completing all the formalities.
The 25-year-old is a significant coup for Leeds at this level as he even rejected a move to La Liga side Getafe in favour of dropping down to the Championship.
Based on how long it took to announce Ramazani, Solomon’s move could be wrapped up as early as today, all being well.
Where would Solomon fit at Leeds?
With all the links to left-footed right-wingers, this is certainly an interesting choice of signing given Solomon is more like what Leeds already have.
His favourite position is very much on the left and as shown by his goal against Leeds in the FA Cup for Fulham almost 18 months ago, he likes to cut in and shoot on his right.
Daniel Farke has repeatedly insisted there will only be two attacking signings before the end of the window but it will be interesting to see if they still target one of either Sallai, Benson or Kebbal to improve the balance of the squad.
That could mean a potential exit for one of Leeds’ front players, though certainly ability wise alone, Solomon looks like a very good signing.
