Leeds United’s focus has been on making new signings in the final couple of days of the transfer window but a European club could now make a late move for one Elland Road player.

Leeds are busy trying to add a midfielder and a full-back to their squad in the next 48 hours ahead of Friday’s deadline, having replaced Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter with two additions.

Manor Solomon and Largie Ramazani have been added to the squad with Japan star Ao Tanaka now said to be a few hours away from completing a move to Leeds from second-tier German side Dusseldorf.

But there could be more work to do at Leeds before the deadline, in the form of a possible sale of one Leeds player. Brenden Aaronson and Max Wober have returned to Leeds after loans away from Yorkshire.

Gladbach could now make late Max Wober move before deadline

German clubs have until 8pm on Friday to make new signings and Gladbach are keen on securing a deal for Wober. The 26-year-old spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan at the mid-table Bundesliga outfit.

But a permanent move did not materialise, with Gladbach unable to afford Leeds’ asking price of £12.5m. Bild say Leeds are unwilling to loan Wober out again, meaning Gladbach would have to buy the Austrian.

The German newspaper reports that Manu Kone has been left out of Gladbach’s side with the club hoping to sell for £18m, as Roma and Milan take an interest. If they do sell Kone, Gladbach may move for Wober.

Difference between Brenden Aaronson and Wober is alarming

Aaronson has spoken to media on a number of occasions since holding talks with Farke over his Leeds future. He has shown a willingness to engage with fans, and has scored two goals in three league games.

Wober meanwhile, turned down the opportunity to speak to the YEP in Germany. He has only featured once, the 3-0 loss to Middlesbrough in the Cup and was absent from the squad at Sheffield Wednesday.

If Leeds’ asking price for Wober is met, you imagine Leeds will cash in even though it means he will need replacing before the deadline on Friday. One to watch, as French ace Kone edges towards the exit door.
