David Prutton picked ‘spectacular’ Leeds United target in his Championship Team of the Season

Leeds United are now being linked with one of the Championship’s standout stars from the 2023-24 season and David Prutton even picked him in his Championship Team of the Season.

Of course, it was Crysencio Summerville that went on to win The Championship Player of the Season title. Interesting, given that Leeds did not actually end up being promoted but a deserved honour nonetheless.

Out of the top four teams, many players could have been picked. Leicester’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, the effervescent Adam Armstrong who scored the winner in the play-off final for Southampton against Leeds.

Outside of Leicester, Ipswich, Southampton and Leeds, one player that was probably head and shoulders above the rest was Norwich City’s Gabriel Sara. The Brazilian ace produced a huge 25 goals and assists.

Leeds make Gabriel Sara a ‘key target’ this summer

Leeds are back in Yorkshire on Monday afternoon after their Germany training camp, which has included friendly wins over Hannover 96 and Schalke. Focus turns to the last friendly against Spanish side Valencia.

Then, the Championship’s opening weekend when Leeds welcome Portsmouth to Elland Road on August 10. Between now and then, Leeds could make a few signings and one of those might be Norwich’s Sara.

Norwich star Sara has emerged as a ‘key target’ for Leeds, a move that would see Farke raid his old side. He is not the only player to be linked with Leeds since Farke’s arrival, after bids for Kenny McLean.

Prutton picked Gabriel Sara in his Team of the Season

Prutton, a presenter for Sky Sports’ coverage of The Football League, produced his Championship Team of the Season at the end of an super campaign and included three Leeds players in his star-studded side.

Joe Rodon was one of those, with Prutton saying he fixed an issue Leeds had in the Premier League. He also picked Summerville and Georginio Rutter in his side, as well as Sammi Szmodics and Leif Davis.

Prutton also included Norwich star Sara, saying he is able to produce magic out of nothing on Sky Sports: “Gabriel Sara from Norwich, he’s great. Plays with a big smile on his face, he’s capable of the spectacular.”
