It is looking like another busy summer ahead for Leeds United.
Regardless of the division Leeds find themselves in next season, plenty of work will need doing both in terms of incomings and outgoings, and so those behind-the-scenes will already be putting plans in place.
Leeds have seven players out of contract in the summer and it would not be a surprise if most, if not all, depart at the end of the season.
Stuart Dallas has already announced his retirement and will be leaving, while Luke Ayling’s January loan to Middlesbrough brought an end to his time at Elland Road. Liam Cooper is likely to join them in leaving.
There is more uncertainty surrounding both Jamie Shackleton and Sam Byram, with both having struggled with injuries this season.
A return to the Premier League would probably see them depart, but they could be more useful if Leeds are in the Championship, particularly in the case of Byram.
Lewis Bate and Ian Poveda are the remaining two players out on contract and like Ayling, their January loan moves elsewhere all but certainly means they have played their last matches at Elland Road.

Rohl leaves door open for signing Leeds’ Poveda permanently
The three who left Leeds on loan in January, Ayling, Bate and Poveda, have all impressed hugely since joining their new clubs.
Ayling has provided a number of assists at Boro, Bate is getting ready for the League Two play-offs with MK Dons, and Poveda had been playing a key role in Sheffield Wednesday’s great escape until his injury.
Poveda could potentially return for Wednesday’s final day trip to Sunderland tomorrow and with only a point needed to guarantee their survival, it is looking like another season in the Championship for them.
That is only likely to increase the Owls’ chances of keeping the 24-year-old and speaking to the Sheffield Star, manager Danny Rohl has left the door open for him to return on a permanent deal.
He said: “We know these players and that they gave us quality in the second leg (half of the season). We know Ian when he played, he has a good impact, Ike Ugbo has scored for us.
“We will try to have a good squad together, but now we focus to Saturday and then on Sunday we can start to speak about the next step.”
What did Daniel Farke say on Poveda’s future at Leeds?
Daniel Farke addressed the reasons for Poveda’s deadline day exit after the close of the January transfer window, admitting it was a move he wanted to make.
The Leeds manager also hinted that the club were not likely to offer him a new deal, and so moving to a club where he could play regularly and put himself in the shop window made sense.
Here’s what he said: “His big wish and desire to have this move. We wish him all the best. In this position we have a lot of competition. We were a bit reluctant to extend his contract. We just want players who are fully committed.”
