Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has discussed the transfer resources available to him as Crysencio Summerville joins West Ham United.

Summerville official joined West Ham on Saturday, with a deal expected to exceed £30million with add-ons factored in.

The 22-year-old impressed in the Championship last season, scoring 19 goals and assisting nine in 43 appearances.

Unfortunately for the winger and Leeds, promotion back to the Premier League was just a step too far in the campaign.

That has come with the cost of some key losses, including Archie Gray joining Tottenham and now Summerville joining West Ham.

Farke is now on the lookout for a replacement at Elland Road but has been brutally honest about his resources.

Daniel Farke on Leeds United transfer budget

With a Summerville replacement needed, many supporters will be hopeful of finding an ideal option who can fill the big boots he has left behind.

Farke’s brutally honest discussion on transfer budget may leave fans feeling less than pleased with how the summer could pan out though.

Speaking to Leeds Live, the Leeds boss said: “Our situation is also quite clear. After selling a winger or offensive player like Cree, everyone knows we would like to add a player in a similar position, there’s no doubt.

“Our position is not like we, right now, receive perhaps a full player like Archie Gray or Cree Summerville, also lots of money and can spend it.

“We still have to pay for a few sins in the past and we have to make sure we are in line with all the financial fair play rules.

“This is also a reason why sometimes a club has to take a decision to sell a player.

“When you ask me, as manager, you have to keep your best players and even add a few more top players, but, yes, we still have the situation where we have perhaps done something not in the perfect way in former years.

“We still have right now to pay the price, although, for example, in the last season, we were pretty disciplined and careful in what we spent.

“We have the situation we have to be careful and it’s also an open secret.”

It means that, perhaps, Leeds aren’t going to be free spending in finding a replacement for their star men this summer.

Crysencio Summerville replacements at Leeds United

So it appears unlikely that Leeds will look to splash the cash on a signing comparable to that of Summerville.

That could rule out a player like Jack Clarke, who is likely to demand a large fee from Sunderland this summer.

The best option that mixes both price and quality is Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, who is available to loan for the season.

The winger has impressed on a loan spell at Charlton, though last season saw his spell at Palace hit by injuries.

That said, his ability shown in pre-season is that of a capable player while the finances would make sense.

It remains to be seen if the Eagles would be happy to send him to Leeds or elsewhere though.
