Leeds United have allowed five players to go out on loan this summer with Rasmus Kristensen one of those, as the Dane’s loan release clause renewed for a second season.
Last summer after relegation, eight players used Victor Orta’s loan clause to jump ship. It saw Max Wober, Robin Koch and Brenden Aaronson move to Germany while Marc Roca returned to Spain with Real Betis.
Kristensen and Diego Llorente joined Roma and both Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra secured returns to the Premier League. Since, four have gone permanently while Wober and Aaronson are back at Leeds.
Sinisterra, Roca and Llorente have been sold while Koch’s Leeds deal expired in June. He joined German side Frankfurt on a permanent basis, while Kristensen and Harrison’s loan clause renewed for this term.

Harrison has gone back to Everton but for Kristensen, he was left in limbo as Roma chose not to re-sign the Denmark star. Instead, he has joined Koch’s Frankfurt on loan ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
On Monday night, Kristensen lined-up alongside Koch as Frankfurt took on Braunschweig in the DFB Pokal. A 4-1 win, largely thanks to the superb second-half display of former PSG striker Hugo Ekitike.
Kristensen saw out 90 minutes and made an important block at 0-0, only for Braunschweig’s consolation goal to come from his side. Frankfurter Rundschau gave their verdict on Kristensen’s Frankfurt debut.
“Marched like crazy on the right with his socks pulled down, there is room for improvement in his passing and shooting technique, certainly one of the better Frankfurt players, later less conspicuous,” they said.
Does Kristensen have a future at Leeds in any capacity
Following his loan at Roma, the idea of Kristensen joining Wober and Aaronson in returning was touted as a move was delayed due to his participation at Euro 2024. Leeds lost a whole load of right-back options.
But fans did not want him back largely due to his inadequate performances in 2022-23. Clearly, Kristensen does not want to play for Leeds again as he jumps ship on loan for a second time to join Koch’s Frankfurt.
When he returns to Leeds next summer if not bought permanently by Frankfurt, Kristensen will have two years left on his Elland Road deal. So, he could stay but the chances are Leeds will try to offload him.
