Leeds United are locked in a race for automatic promotion alongside Burnley, Sheffield United and Sunderland with Daniel Farke’s men currently three points clear at the top.
Despite failing to hold on to the lead against Blackburn on Saturday, Leeds remain three points ahead of second-placed Burnley in the Championship table after 25 games with Sheffield United sitting in third.
Sunderland have revamped their automatic promotion hopes with a brilliant 2-1 win over Chris Wilder’s men. Wilder admitted the defeat “hurt”, but is confident automatic promotion is still all to play for.
A lot could depend on what each of the four clubs do in the January window and one player could swap one of the chasing pack for Elland Road, with Leeds keen to raid Burnley for Belgian star Mike Tresor.

Scott Parker “not sure” if Mike Tresor will stay at Burnley
The Belgium international joined Burnley initially on loan from Genk in the summer of 2023. Despite relgation, The Clarets were forced to sign him permanently for £16m due to an obligation in the loan.
It has left Burnley with an expensive player on the books that is yet to play a single game this season, with Tresor suffering a number of injury issues. Leeds are supposedly keen to bring Tresor to Yorkshire.
Asked if Tresor will stay at Burnley this month by the Burnley Express, Parker said: “I’m honestly not really sure. What I do know is that the club have put huge investment into Mikey and he’s obviously got quality.
“We need to get Mikey to a level where he’s fit and try and get him available for games to play for us and help us this year. That’s the main aim, that’s certainly what I’m doing and what we’re all doing,” he added.
“Hopefully we can get there and hopefully we can get over these little niggles he seems to be picking up and get him back up to speed to help us this year by scoring some goals and get us out of this division.”

Mike Tresor is still a record holder in Belgian football after 22-23
Prior to his move to Burnley and what is likely to have tempted Vincent Kompany in the summer of 2023, is that Tresor laid on a massive 24 assists for Genk in 2022-23. That’s the most in a season by one player.
Tresor’s form that season saw him earn two caps for Belgium but since his move to England, things have not gone to plan. There is a player in Tresor, but Burnley are going to have to accept a loss on the star.
Whether Leeds are actually interested and if Burnley would be willing to do any business with a direct rival remains to be seen. But Parker is clearly unaware if Tresor will stay at Burnley this month.
