Leeds United are paying close attention to Barcelona attacker Roony Bardghji, who is available due to the Spanish giants’ squad planning rather than a lack of ability.
Barcelona still rate the winger highly, but circumstances have created an opening that Daniel Farke’s side are well placed to exploit. Anthony Gordon’s arrival has played a part, while Raphinha remains first choice.
TeamTalk claim Leeds are among the clubs interested in Bardghji, while Aston Villa, Sunderland, Brighton, Brentford and Everton are also monitoring the situation. Barcelona are willing to let him leave.
NEW DEAL, SELL OR DO NOTHING: What should Leeds do with Brenden Aaronson? 💫
The reason is straightforward. Barcelona’s attacking department is becoming increasingly crowded, with Anthony Gordon arriving and further attacking additions remaining part of the club’s plans.
Julian Alvarez could also join while Marcus Rashford could sign permanently. In that environment, younger squad players become vulnerable even when they are still highly regarded internally.
Bardghji has not played enough football at Barcelona
The strongest argument for a move is the player’s lack of opportunities. Bardghji made 28 appearances across all competitions in 2025-26, but those outings translated into just 784 minutes of football.
League usage was even more limited. The winger made 21 La Liga appearances but only seven starts, illustrating how difficult it has been to establish himself despite remaining part of the first-team picture.
That level of involvement is not enough for a player at his stage of development. A move that delivers regular football now looks like the logical next step.

Leeds have a genuine need out wide despite returning duo
This is also a transfer that makes sense from Leeds’ perspective. The club’s depth on the flanks looks far less secure than it did 12 months ago.
Largie Ramazani spent last season on loan at Valencia, while Jack Harrison faces continued uncertainty over his long-term future. Meanwhile, Willy Gnonto is attracting serious interest ahead of the summer.
If Gnonto leaves, Leeds could enter the new season relying heavily on Dan James and Noah Okafor as their only established wide options. That is why Bardghji is a necessity rather than a luxury.
A loan move suits every party involved, including Leeds
Bardghji’s preference is understood to be a loan because he still sees his future at Barcelona. That makes the structure of any potential deal particularly attractive for Leeds.
Tammy Abraham and DCL could score 30 goals next season between them 🔥
They'd form a brilliant partnership!
Barcelona would retain control of a player they continue to value. Bardghji would receive the regular minutes he has struggled to secure in Spain. Leeds get a talented attacking option without paying.
Competition for his signature is significant, but Leeds can offer something many rivals cannot. There is a realistic pathway to meaningful Premier League minutes from day one.
Barcelona’s stance has created an opportunity. Leeds now need to decide whether they are prepared to take it and land the Sweden international in the coming weeks and months.
