Largie Ramazani and Isaac Schmidt have both confirmed they are returning to Leeds United this summer after posting farewell messages to Valencia and Werder Bremen respectively.

The two players spent the 2025-26 season away from Elland Road and now face uncertain futures after struggling to establish themselves in Daniel Farke’s plans before their loan moves.

Ramazani posted “Mestalla. Thank you” on Instagram as his spell with Valencia came to an end, effectively confirming his return. The timing is notable, with Valencia pushing to sign the winger permanently.

Six goals in 12 for Valencia.

The report states that Valencia chief executive Ron Gourlay has travelled to Spain as the La Liga side attempt to secure a deal following Ramazani’s encouraging second half of the campaign.

Valencia loan gave Ramazani something he couldn’t find at Leeds

Ramazani finished the season with six goals and one assist in 27 La Liga appearances, establishing himself as a useful option in Valencia’s squad after finding opportunities difficult to come by at Elland Road.

Before leaving on loan, the Belgian struggled to become a regular starter for Leeds during the club’s promotion campaign. His improved form helps explain why Valencia are now exploring a permanent deal.

Schmidt used Instagram: “Liebe Werder fans, Danke! despite ups and downs, your support was infallible, you deserved more. All the best to my teammates and staff for the years to come, was a pleasure.”

The Switzerland international enjoyed more first-team exposure in Germany than he managed at Leeds, making 19 Bundesliga appearances and scoring once during his season with Werder Bremen.

Ramazani and Schmidt return to Leeds with major doubt

Both players are now scheduled to report back to Leeds ahead of the club’s Premier League campaign, but neither appears guaranteed a place in Farke’s long-term plans.

Their loan spells provided valuable minutes and improved visibility, yet their futures remain unclear heading into the summer. Mateo Joseph will also return to West Yorkshire after his loan spell at Mallorca.

His circumstances are different. The striker suffered an ACL injury during his time in Spain and is expected to spend the coming months focusing on rehabilitation, making a move away from Leeds far less likely.

For now, Ramazani and Schmidt have both publicly closed the chapter on their loan spells. Whether either player has a meaningful future at Elland Road may be one of the more intriguing decisions Leeds face during the summer transfer window.
