Two goals in 20… Leeds’ hopes of sealing £20m sale this summer may now be fading

What Daniel Farke has done brilliantly since being appointed as Leeds United’s boss last year is put to bed the demons of last season which made the campaign utterly miserable for Whites fans.

A clear-out was very much needed. However, it was far from being the perfect summer, with so many of the squad leaving on loan. Their departures therefore, hardly bolstered Farke’s budget for the promotion push we have seen.

With that, the club have decisions to make this coming summer on several players you would be surprised to see wear a Leeds shirt again.

Meanwhile, there are some who arguably could yet force their way back into the picture if things fall into place in the coming months.

One of those with a question mark over his situation is surely Jack Harrison. It was no surprise to see him remain in the Premier League this season. The winger joined Everton on loan.

He made a bright start once he had made his debut. The 27-year-old provided a goal and assist in his second Premier League appearance for the Toffees.

Leeds’ hopes of selling Jack Harrison to Everton may be fading

However, things have been pretty bleak for Everton once again this season. They have been handed a points deduction and face further punishment after a second alleged breach.

Meanwhile, on the pitch, Sean Dyche has not seen his side win since mid-December. Luton are only four points behind. And three of the four sides below Everton have a game in hand.

Much may depend on which division Everton are going to be in next year. But it does appear that the Toffees are going to have to be clever with any money they have to spend in the transfer window.

Everton have a clause which allows them to sign Harrison permanently for £20 million. And given that he has now scored just two goals in his last 20 league games, the Toffees will surely have real reservations about spending £20 million on the wide-man.

That may not necessarily mean that he returns to Leeds. Of course, if we are promoted, his experience will be welcome. But a lot of fans were hurt by those who did leave on loan in the summer. And Farke is not lacking options, particularly in wide areas.

There will be other clubs interested in signing Harrison. But if Leeds were hoping that Everton would snap up the chance to sign him for £20 million, those hopes may be starting to fade as the Toffees toil.
