Leeds United’s Championship title rivals Sheffield United have seemingly received a huge boost as fans wait for their long-awaited takeover to go through.

After Leeds United beat Middlesbrough 3-1 on Tuesday night, it’s the Whites who sit in 1st place of the Championship table, with Sheffield United in 2nd and two points behind.

The Blades go up against Millwall at The Den on Wednesday night and Daniel Farke my have his eyes firmly fixed on the game in London.

He’ll also have his sights set on Leeds‘ next game against Preston on Saturday, and on the upcoming January transfer window as well.

Farke remains coy on Leeds United’s plans for the January transfer window. Few know what to expect, but Farke seems to be leaning more towards there being very few signings, if any at all.

But for Leeds’ title rivals Sheffield United, it could be a busy month, especially if this prospective takeover goes through.

Sheffield United handed huge takeover boost by Alan Nixon

Reporting on Patreon, Alan Nixon has revealed that Sheffield United’s takeover, led by American businessman Steve Rosen, is in its ‘final stages’.

The Blades’ current owner is Prince Abdullah, who’s owned 10% of the club since 2019, having overseen some terrible spending in the transfer market during his reign.

Nixon adds that ‘Blades officials have now got genuine optimism’ that Prince Abdullah will settle for an ‘adjusted offer’ from Rosen, which ‘reflects the club’s current high flying season’.

Lastly, Nixon’s report states that Sheffield United are hoping to be ‘active in the market rather than being forced to possibly sell and wheel and deal’.

Daniel Farke outlines Leeds United’s plans for the January transfer window

Speaking earlier in December, Farke discussed the January transfer window and the kind of business he expects at Elland Road.

He said: “I don’t want to talk to about it too much as we have eight games until then. Potentially, some injuries of key players and what are we like in each position. If you ask me now though, I don’t expect signings.”

Whilst Leeds are in form and looking good right now, if Sheffield United can make some good signings in January then it could give them the edge in the second half of the campaign.

The two teams are neck and neck right now and one or two signings for either side could be the difference come May next year.
