New midfield signings have created a battle for a starting spot, but can Leeds’ young academy prospects force their way into Daniel Farke’s plans?
With predictions coming in for Leeds’ midfield line-up, it is a hard one to call with the likes of Sean Longstaff and Anton Stach arriving this summer.
Ethan Ampadu and Ao Tanaka have also played valiantly in the past, staking a claim on their spot, but what about Leeds’ academy products?
Could Daniel Farke call on their services at some point this season?

Rhys Chadwick and Sam Chambers are Leeds United’s future
18-year-old Rhys Chadwick signed his first professional contract with Leeds in July last year, penning a two-year deal at Elland Road.
The midfielder is a dynamic player with a style reminiscent of Leeds United’s Archie Gray and former player Mateusz Klich.
Like Gray, Chadwick is versatile, press-resistant, and intelligent during transitions, displaying a remarkable composure on the ball and a strong understanding of positioning.
He also shares Klich’s knack for making forward runs, exceptional vision, and quick link-up play. These qualities make him an influential presence in the central or attacking midfield role.
Alongside him is Sam Chambers, who also penned a professional two-year contract last year, a defensive or central midfielder who brings to mind Ilia Gruev and Adam Forshaw.
Chambers mirrors Gruev’s disciplined approach and calmness under pressure, complemented by an impressive passing range. Similar to Forshaw during his peak at Leeds, Chambers is a safe distributor who expertly reads the game to nullify threats.
Both players have featured in one or more pre-season games so far, but it remains to be seen if Daniel Farke calls on their services in the Premier League this season.

Leeds United’s academy graduates who made their mark
Leeds United’s Thorp Arch academy has a long history of producing exceptional talent who have gone on to achieve great things both at Elland Road and beyond, meaning Chadwick and Chambers could have a glittering career ahead of them.
The most recent example of this is Archie Gray, who is now at Tottenham Hotspur, after breaking into the first team and won numerous awards.
The Premier League era saw a golden generation emerge, including homegrown hero Kalvin Phillips who has seen speculation about a return to Elland Road this summer. He helped Leeds return to the top flight and became an England player.
There is also James Milner, who is a testament to the academy’s quality, as he went on to win numerous Premier League and Champions League titles with Manchester City and Liverpool, respectively.
Fabian Delph also found significant success after his time at Leeds, winning multiple Premier League titles with Manchester City. Jonny Howson, who recently returned to Elland Road, became a highly respected and reliable midfielder in the Championship and Premier League with both Norwich City and Middlesbrough.
