As Leeds move up the Premier League table after two wins and two draws from the last four games, relegation rivals are seemingly panicking.
West Ham are currently the closest rival to Leeds – sitting 18th on 13 points, as Leeds are 16th with 19 points while holding a game in hand – and are desperately thinking of ways to bridge the gap quickly.
One idea is the introduction of a new striker, as the Mirror state West Ham have made Jorgen Strand Larsen a priority signing this winter.
There could be bad news on the horizon for Leeds soon in this respect, as Wolves now shortlist a replacement in Sam Surridge – according to talkSPORT.
Wolves could sign Sam Surridge to replace Jorgen Strand Larsen – a development Leeds United will not be keen on
Strand Larsen netted 14 goals in 35 Premier League appearances last term for Wolves, so the Norwegian is certainly capable of hitting the ground running and helping West Ham drag Leeds back into trouble if a deal materialises.
Which player would you be happy for Leeds to sell in January to fund their transfer business? Let us know in the comments… 🤔💰
The likes of Joel Piroe and Willy Gnonto are struggling to force their way into Farke's plans.
The Wolves No.9 was even the subject of a £55m bid from Newcastle during the summer after his excellent 2024/25 campaign.
Now, a deal for West Ham to sign Strand Larsen has taken a positive step forward, as talkSPORT believe Wolves are considering a move for Surridge, the Nashville frontman who bagged 31 goals in 40 appearances last term.
Wolves currently have little need for another striker with Hwang Hee-chan, the £24m man Tolu Arokodare and Larsen already at Molineux, so a deal for Surridge would strongly suggest they are ready to offload the latter to West Ham.
However, Crystal Palace also want Larsen – according to the Telegraph – so the Eagles could yet save Leeds from having to see a direct relegation rival strengthen themselves significantly.
Leeds could raid Wolves themselves for Sam Johnstone amid serious questions about the goalkeeping department
TEAMtalk claimed back in April that Leeds were keen on signing Sam Johnstone from Wolves, as Daniel Farke looked to replace Illan Meslier.
Who has been Leeds United’s best player this season? 🔟
We're almost at the halfway stage…
A £16m deal was eventually finalised for Lucas Perri instead as Wolves stood firm over the England international.
However, if – or when, rather – Wolves are relegated, we feel Leeds should try again.
Meslier is set to leave as a free agent when his contract expires at the end of the season, as is Karl Darlow – the two main backup options for Perri.
Johnstone is already sitting behind Jose Sa in the pecking order at Wolves, so he may actually be personally keen on a move to Leeds – where he will be close to his hometown of Preston.
