New reports have emerged this week that say Leeds United midfielder Josuha Guilavogui is the subject of January interest from a French side and player will surely be tempted with an exit.
The 34-year-old ace only joined Leeds in October. The seven-time France international joined the club as a free agent after injuries to Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev, with Mainz choosing to let him go on a free.
Since then, Guilavogui has clocked up 10 appearances for Leeds. Nine of which have come off the bench for Leeds in the Championship with The Whites securing eight wins and then a draw against Hull City.
Last weekend, Guilavogui started for Leeds against Harrogate Town in the FA Cup win at Elland Road. But Guilavogui is only contracted to Leeds until the end of the season – and now, the midfielder has interest.
Why Josuha Guilavogui will surely be tempted by Paris FC move
The latest club to benefit from RedBull investment is second-tier, promotion-pushing French side Paris FC. Reports this week say Paris FC are interested in signing Leeds midfielder Guilavogui in the coming weeks.
The news comes as a surprise but, there are reasons why Guilavogui would be tempted to go. The first being the return of Ilia Gruev and Ethan Ampadu from injury, pushing Guilavogui down the pecking order.
He is going to struggle for game time even off the bench while at Paris FC, he will get more minutes and possibly start. A return to France, and to a side pushing for promotion who also have a family connection.
Paris FC currently sit in second place, level on points with first as they eye promotion to Ligue 1. It is also the club that saw younger brother Morgan Guilavogui, now at St. Pauli, come through at academy level.
If Leeds want to keep Josuha Guilavogui, action is required
Daniel Farke described Guilavogui as an “unbelievable” guy (BBC) when he first joined the club. Guilavogui has since been commended for his work behind the scenes, in the dressing room and improving morale.
Fans love the former Wolfsburg and Atletico Madrid star largely because of his big smile, his posts on social media and that Guilavogui has become the first Leeds player to win all of his first eight games.
If Leeds want to keep Guilavogui then they need to take action. They need to hand him a new contract before the interest from Paris FC lands in the form of a bid, and Guilavogui is understandably tempted.
