Leeds United fans have declared one star man produced his best game for the club after Joe Rodon was overlooked in a fans’ Man of the Match poll.

Joe Rodon was Leeds’ talisman in the heart of defence against West Ham as he scored a goal and helped resist a wave of pressure from the visitors in the closing stages of the match.

The Wales international scored his third goal in six games for club and country to continue his impressive return to the Premier League.

However, a fans’ poll conducted by the club overlooked Rodon in the club’s Man of the Match vote, as Brenden Aaronson was rewarded for his impressive performance, with 64% of fans selecting him as the best player for Leeds.

Now, fans have declared that Aaronson’s virtuoso display was his best in a Leeds shirt as he helped lift the gloom with a much-needed win.

Posting on the social media site X (formerly Twitter), Leeds United fans were quick to praise Aaronson after he was named as the club’s player of the match.

One fan summed up the feeling among the Leeds fanbase, as they wrote: “His third season here and by far his best-ever performance for us. Couldn’t believe my eyes.”

This was backed by another fan who stated that this was well-deserved recognition, as they posted: “Thoroughly well deserved. Best performance in a Leeds shirt to date from Brenden.”

Aaronson has been criticised at times by Leeds fans, particularly after his miss against Burnley. One fan was thrilled by his redemption arc. They said: “Love a redemption story, I hope he can string some good performances together and the supporter base can truly get behind him.”

One fan argued that Farke deserves credit for his development, as they wrote: “Maybe this is why he is playing every game, Farke sees his development in training every day. Good for him. Well deserved.”

Another fan claimed that Aaronson has been performing at this level regularly, arguing that fans had not recognised it, stating: “This has been his input/output every game since the season started btw, took a goal to get people on his side.”

While another fan urged Aaronson to produce this kind of performance week-in, week-out, arguing: “All we ask now is that you build on that good performance and keep it going consistently, Brenden.”

Aaronson will undoubtedly be relieved to finally get back on the scoresheet in the top flight for Leeds, three years after his last Premier League goal for the club.
