‘Worth Leeds taking a chance’… £5m midfielder has proven Ross McCormack’s prediction right

Glen Kamara has proven to be a bargain buy for Leeds United. Joining the club from Rangers in the summer, the Finland ace has become an integral part of this side – proving Ross McCormack right.

The 28-year-old took a few weeks to get into the XI before establishing himself as first choice whether that be alongside Ethan Ampadu, or Ilia Gruev. The slightly more advanced midfielder, in a 4-2-3-1.

Prior to his move to Leeds, Kamara had spent four and a half years at Rangers – clocking up a huge 193 games for The Gers. He helped them win the League unbeaten, and then reach the Europa League final.

He has followed the same path as McCormack, from Rangers to Leeds – albeit, with clubs in between for the latter. Before he did join in the latter days of the window, McCormack urged Leeds to sign Kamara.

He told The Mail in August 2023: “Every single game, Glen is at least a 7.5/10. Doesn’t give the ball away. He’d give great stability. Leeds have a great young talent in Archie Gray. He’d benefit from having Glen.

“Glen has over 50 caps – played regularly for Rangers in Europe; what he can pass on to young players like Gray is invaluable. If they get a few million it’s a good deal. Definitely worth Leeds taking a chance.”

Glen Kamara proves Ross McCormack prediction right at Leeds

He has been superb for Leeds, proving McCormack’s prediction right. He rarely gives the ball away, and he does give Leeds stability – perhaps not as much as Gruev or Ampadu, but they play in different roles.

McCormack said that if Leeds got him for a few million – and we did, at just £5m – then it would be good business and it certainly has proven out to be. If Leeds are to go up, Kamara will play a pivotal role.
