Ross McCormack has told The Daily Mail that Leeds United should complete the signing of Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara – claiming the Ibrox star would be the perfect tutor for teenage star Archie Gray.
Kamara, 27, is expected to leave Rangers in the next fortnight. He has been strongly linked with a move to Elland Road, with Graham Smyth reporting Leeds are keen – and that he has a £5m release clause.
He fancies a change, after four and a half years at Ibrox – clocking up 193 games for the Gers. A crucial part of their 20-21 Premiership title under Steven Gerarrd, and run to the 21-22 Europa League final.
So, Leeds are in the market for Kamara as Daniel Farke remains desperate to bring in new new signings. Ex-Leeds man McCormack believes Kamara would be a top signing for us, and would help talent Gray.
“Every single game, Glen is at least a 7.5/10. Doesn’t give the ball away. He’d give them great stability. Leeds have a great young talent in Archie Gray. He’d benefit from having Glen alongside him,” he said.
“Glen has over 50 caps – played regularly for Rangers in Europe; what he can pass on to young players like Gray is invaluable. If they get a few million it’s a good deal. Definitely worth Leeds taking a chance.”
McCormack: Leeds should sign £5m Rangers midfielder Kamara
With just over a fortnight remaining in the transfer window, Leeds need additions all over the park. But from minute one this summer, midfielders were required. Leeds are likely to lose a 4th central midfielder.
Tyler Adams is expected to join Weston McKennie, Adam Forshaw and Marc Roca in leaving. Leeds have brought in Ethan Ampadu as a replacement. Gray has been promoted. Darko Gyabi is another option.
Lew Bate and Jamie Shackleton, too. But their futures remain unclear ahead of the deadline. Leeds need more bodies and better quality in midfield and Kamara would certainly give us that, as per McCormack.
