The Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth has reported that Leeds United are keen on signing Rangers star Glen Kamara – but if they are to do so, they will have to meet the midfielder’s £5m exit clause. He is expected to leave.
Kamara, 27, has entered the final two years of his Ibrox contract and the Gers are seemingly open to his exit. He has spent the last four and a half years with Rangers, playing 193 times and winning the league under Steven Gerrard.
According to The 4th Official, Leeds are ‘on the verge’ of signing the Finland ace after completing a move for Ethan Ampadu. He was missing from the Rangers squad that suffered a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle at Ibrox earlier this week.
Now, Smyth has an update. He has claimed that Leeds are interested but if they are to do a deal for the ex-Arsenal academy product – then they will have to meet the asking price in his Ibrox deal. It means, Leeds must pay £5m.
“Kamara has been looked at. With a release clause in the region of £5m, he would be another obtainable midfield target. He missed Rangers’ mid-week meeting with Newcastle through illness and is expected to depart Ibrox.”

Leeds need midfielders. Marc Roca, Weston McKennie and Adam Forshaw have all gone. Tyler Adams is still a real possible departure, too. Many Premier League clubs have been linked with the USA captain over the last few weeks.
Ampadu has come in, Lew Bate and Jamie Shackleton have returned from loans, and Archie Gray and Darko Gyabi will be promoted to the firsts. But of those five, Shackleton is the eldest at 23. Experience needed. Kamara? Ideal.
