Ian Poveda has failed to make an impact at Leeds United, but the winger is doing well at Sheffield Wednesday at the moment.

Leeds United signed Ian Poveda from Manchester City in January 2020. Victor Orta was influential in the transfer.

Much was expected of Poveda at Leeds, but the winger could not make a massive impact. The Colombia international had loan spells at Blackburn Rovers in 2021-22 and Blackpool in 2022-23.

Then in the January transfer window, Leeds decided to send Poveda out on loan to Sheffield Wednesday for the rest of the season. He made just one start and only six substitute appearances in the Championship for Daniel Farke’s side.

Poveda has already established himself as an important player for Wednesday. The 24-year-old Colombian has made four starts and one substitute appearance in the Championship for the Owls. He has given one assist in those games.

Wednesday are second from bottom in the Championship table at the moment. Danny Rohl’s side are on 32 points from 34 matches, three points behind 21st-placed Queens Park Rangers.

The Owls have started to pick up positive results. They have won three of their last four Championship matches and have bagged six points from their last two games. They could avoid relegation.

Wednesday beat Bristol City 2-1 at home on Saturday, and, as you can see below, Poveda is pleased with it.

Poveda started as a right winger and played for 84 minutes. He was brilliant on the ball and was full of tricks. The youngster worked hard as well, and, as you can see, he was pleased with the final result.

The winger is happy with how things are going for him and Wednesday at the moment. He was revelling in the win for the Owls against Millwall away from home last weekend as well.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Poveda at the end of the season. He is out of contract at Leeds in the summer of 2024.
