Leeds United star Willy Gnonto has commented on his future – as quoted by Tutto Mercato Web – on Thursday night after Italy suffered a 2-1 defeat to England in Naples, amid reports that the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea want him.

Gnonto, 19, has thrown himself onto the radar of some of Europe’s biggest clubs with his form at Leeds. Joining the Whites in the summer from FC Zurich, he has quickly earned fan favourite status in his 20 senior games for Leeds.

Such form has seen him continue to be a part of Italy’s National Team under Roberto Mancini. He has scored four goals and laid on three assists and on Thursday, he came on for the last 20 minutes as Italy searched for a goal.

Gazzetta Dello Sport state that Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City want Gnonto. A report from football site 90Min says five clubs from Serie A are keen. He was asked about his move to England, and Gnonto commented on his future.

“I made this type of choice,” Gnonto said when asked about his move to England from Swiss side Zurich – as per Italian website Tutto Mercato Web. “I’m happy and I’ve shown that I’m a good player and I think I’ll do even better.”

What will be seen as good news for Leeds fans – in the midst of all the rumours linking Gnonto with an Elland Road exit – is that he says he is happy. Rightly so. He is playing regularly in the Premier League for a club that loves him.

But he does have a decision to make this summer. Relegation will certainly see Gnonto request to go. But, if Leeds stay up – should he stay put? Given he is only 19 and still learning his trade, he would be best-advised to stay put.
