TalkSPORT journalist Alex Crook says he expects Luke Thomas to join Leeds United from Leicester City.
Crook was speaking to Give Me Sport, where he claimed Thomas is someone Daniel Farke rates highly, and as such, believes a deal will be done before Friday’s deadline.
Leeds are in the market for a new left-back this week and Thomas is among the players who have been linked with a move to Elland Road.
As per Phil Hay, Leeds have made two enquiries for Thomas so far with the most likely format of a transfer being a loan deal, though it is uncertain whether Leicester would loan to a direct rival.
That said, Thomas has been out of the picture under Enzo Maresca so far this season, with the 22-year-old not having played a single minute in league or cup.
Crook expects Leeds to sign Thomas
After a quiet day on Tuesday, Crook provided a new update to Give Me Sport last night, in which he claimed he expects Leeds to get a deal done.
He said: “Yeah I think so. They’ve lost a lot of players with all their contracts with release clause upon relegation, it’s obviously hit the squad quite hard. Definitely Luke Thomas is someone that Daniel Farke is keen on. I think that one will probably happen.”
Thomas endured a difficult season at Leicester last term as they were relegated to the Premier League, but in fairness, there weren’t many that didn’t.
If the England U21 international can get back to the form he showed during the early days in the first team at Leicester, he could be a shrewd addition for Leeds, especially in the Championship.
Left-back remains an area of concern in Leeds’ squad with Sam Byram and Junior Firpo out injured, and Leo Hjelde struggling for form.
