Leeds United defender Jaka Bijol has explained why the draw against Manchester United was a particularly special occasion.
Jaka Bijol is now showing the kind of form that made Leeds so keen to land his signature in the summer transfer window.
After a slow start to life at Elland Road, Bijol’s influence on the Leeds back four is growing with each passing game, and he produced another impressive display against the Red Devils.
Bijol lined up against his fellow Slovenian international Benjamin Sesko in the game, as the Man United forward struggled to make an impact against the Leeds back four.
According to Bijol, the chance to play against his international teammate made the occasion extra special, despite missing out on three points.

Jaka Bijol thrilled to line up against Benjamin Sesko
Speaking to Arena Sport after the game, via Ekipa, Bijol described the opportunity to play opposite Sesko as “something really special”.
According to Bijol, the chance to go head-to-head with a friend was a unique experience, and it helped to improve his performance against the Red Devils.
Bijol said: “It was really something special. For the first time in my career, I experienced fighting against a friend, a teammate. The feeling was special, and we practically played one-on-one the entire match.
“After all, in a match you are focused on your game, so you can show your best,” before adding, “We always wanted to win this time, as evidenced by the coach’s substitutions at the end of the match.
“Before the match, we had the feeling that we were in better shape than they were, but we didn’t succeed; we ran out of energy a little. Maybe also.”

Leeds United star got the better of Manchester United forward
Bijol was one of Leeds’ standout performers in their game against Man United at Elland Road, as he continued his impressive run of form at the heart of the defence.
His impact is highlighted by Sesko’s lack of impact on the game, as the centre forward struggled to make his mark for the visitors.

According to the FotMob stats for the game, Sesko managed just four touches inside the Leeds box and was dispossessed three times, with the Leeds defence limiting him to just three shots on goal.
Two of these saw Sesko miss big chances, as he failed to find the net despite his chances carrying an expected goals total of 0.8. Sesko will be relieved that he does not have to face his international teammate too often, based on the meeting at Elland Road.
