Leeds United secured a second win of the season on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Hull City thanks to goals from Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph, but Daniel Farke was ‘furious’ with one Leeds player.
The win sees Leeds climb to fourth in the Championship table after four games, securing eight points from a possible 12 and earning a third consecutive clean sheet but it wasn’t a perfect performance.
Leeds took until after the hour mark to break the deadlock, and Hull could easily have scored in the first 45. Canada star Liam Millar had a couple of attempts at goal, one tipped over the bar by Illan Meslier.
But a solid-enough display that saw Leeds secure all three points and go into the first break of the season in a good mood. However, perfectionist Farke was not happy with new Leeds signing Jayden Bogle.
Farke ‘furious’ with summer signing Bogle during Hull win
Bogle has endured a difficult start at Leeds. The £5m arrival from Sheffield United conceded a penalty against Portsmouth, was rash at West Brom for his yellow card and has been guilty of other instances.
At one point in the match, Bogle was out of position and it annoyed Farke. The Leeds manager was said to be gesturing ‘furiously’ on the touchline according to the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth.
The YEP’s chief writer then goes on to say that when a similar situation arose moments later with Farke wanting Bogle to get wider, the right-back did so. It saw Farke react by clapping with ‘satisfaction’.
Bogle now has competition on his hands in form of Isaac Schmidt
Given Leeds could only announce Isaac Schmidt on Friday evening, he was not available to play against Hull with clubs needing to register before midday the previous day of a game to be able to pick them.
As a handful of Leeds players jet off to represent their countries, Farke will be tasked with improving his side’s tactical nous ahead of Burnley on September 14, the return of Connor Roberts and Jaidon Anthony.
It will also see Bogle come up against new signing Schmidt in the battle to start at right-back. Schmidt is much better than just a back-up option and he will now be looking to push Bogle out of his way.
