When Leeds United can secure promotion to the Premier League despite Burnley and Sheffield United also winning on Friday.

The race for promotion to the Premier League is going to the wire with the Championship top three all picking up vital victories on Good Friday.

Leeds United were forced to wait as first Burnley defeated Watford before Sheffield United got back to winning ways vs Cardiff City to pile on the pressure.

Daniel Farke’s side responded well, though, by grinding out a hard-fought 1-0 win at Oxford United.

Manor Solomon was the difference maker as he turned in Jayden Bogle’s cross at the back post but the ‘absolutely immense’ Joe Rodon was the stand-out performer.

There are now just three fixtures left in the gruelling campaign and here is when Leeds can now secure promotion the earliest.

Leeds United can go up to the Premier League on Monday

Leeds will return to home territory on Monday for their second game of the Easter Weekend double header, taking on 16th-placed Stoke City.

As Sheffield United were victorious on Friday, promotion can’t be secured with thousands of fans crammed into Elland Road.

However, if Leeds defeat Stoke and then the Blades fail to beat Burnley at Turf Moor in the following game, then the Whites will have an unassailable gap in the automatic promotion places.

If Leeds draw at Stoke and Chris Wilder’s side lose, then the gap between the sides will be six points with two games left, but Leeds’ vastly superior goal difference means promotion will practically be secured.

What happens if Leeds aren’t promoted on Monday?

If Leeds and Sheffield United have matching results on Monday, then the five-point gap will remain in place going into the penultimate weekend of the season.

The Blades play first next weekend – away to Stoke City on Friday night – so would have the chance to really turn the heat on Leeds before they play Bristol City in their final home game on Monday night.

Yet, Leeds will know that a victory will be enough to secure promotion.

Should Leeds lose and Sheffield United win on Monday, then their advantage will shrink to two points. The pressure to defeat Bristol City will be even higher and promotion could go to the final day.

In addition, if Leeds slip up on Monday and Burnley win, then the Clarets will be in the ascendancy to win the title.
