It was close but no cigar for Leeds United and Daniel Farke again as Tottenham edged past The Whites at Elland Road to secure a 2-1 win, but only thanks to two deflected goals.
Mathys Tel opened the scoring in the first half with a striker= from the corner of the penalty area. The shot made its way into the top corner, via a Pascal Struijk deflection. Karl Darlow should have done better.
Leeds levelled before the break. Dominic Calvert-Lewin won many duels throughout the game and he found Brenden Aaronson, who saw his shot parried only to Noah Okafor to score his second Leeds goal.
Leeds had dominated a large part of the game and certainly possession, but it was Tottenham that won the game thanks to another deflected strike, Mohammed Kudus’ effort wrong-footing Darlow in goal.

What Leeds fans sang to referee Thomas Bramall at full-time
There were some strange decisions made by referee Bramall during a feisty encounter. One of the most controversial was when a loose ball hit Bramall, with possession about to be accepted by Ethan Ampadu.
Yet, because the last touch had been a Tottenham header, Bramall gave the ball back to Spurs. It left Leeds fans and Ampadu incandescent, while there were other instances where Bramall was against Leeds.
Beren Cross of The Athletic reported on X: “Full time. Spurs win it. ‘Cheat, cheat, cheat’ is the chant from the home fans. Referee made a lot of poor calls and Struijk will feel unfortunate for the two goals.”
Leeds’ next four games after October international break
That’s it for Leeds until after the international break, with four more fixtures coming in between the October and November breaks. Leeds return with a huge clash, going to promoted Burnley at Turf Moor.
Then, they return to Elland Road with another big match, this time at home to West Ham. Two tricky games follow Leeds after the clash against The Hammers, both Brighton and Forest away from home.
